1940s Vintage Weiss Clamper Bracelet Black Rhinestones Bakelite

This is a beautiful 1940s black shiny Bakelite/Celluloid curvy base Clamper Bracelet designed by Albert J. Weiss. In Excellent condition for its age.

It is studded with inset, glistening and dazzling black Austrian domed crystal rhinestones. This bracelet has 7 rows of fabulous black chaton’s. All stones in place and sparkling, there are no discolorations on the black thermoset, those are just reflections. Designs differed on many of the bracelets. This one has a secure and functional hinge; spring action is strong. The ends where the bracelet closes, are the typical to Weiss rounded ends giving the clamper a fabulous style and elegant look on your wrist. Weiss called these bracelets “BON BON" and were produced for 10 years in many colors. The Black color with back Crystal is hard to find.

Weiss did not sign his pieces; he consigned them to upscale department stores in the 1940’s. He only signed the ones through upscale jewelry stores/shops so it is not unusual to find Weiss bracelets unsigned. The small rhinestones appear to be original, and all rhinestones are present. The secure hinge works fine is tight and bracelet closes evenly. There is a small dot where the lighter color shows slightly. It was made during the baking process, and it is under the coating of the item. Hard to notice.

This celluloid bracelet belonged to my mother. I remember her wearing it in the 1950s. My mother was in the fashion industry and beauty field.
