Vintage Lusterware Porcelain Cup and Saucer Cherry Blossoms Japan. In excellent condition.
This is a beautiful lusterware porcelain cup and saucer set in a cherry blossom design. Hand painted iridescent glossy Lusterware. Exterior is a blue top half and gold bottom half of cup. Inside cup is gold. The design of the cup shows 3 white cherry blossoms on blue and gold area of cup with black branches and white dots for new blossoms on one side of cup. Manufacturer’s brand stamp on bottom. Appears to be from 1940s. See pictures for detail.
In 1921 American import laws changed to require the place of origin be marked on a product in English. Since “Nippon” was more a description of an island and a native word to that island, the word “Nippon” was no longer acceptable for imports and the new law. Backstamps after 1921 state “Japan” or “Made in Japan”. Thus, it is easier to identify the earlier pieces of China by those marked with “Nippon” and later pieces by those marked with “Made in Japan”.
Items that I sell that are marked vintage, antique or collectible may show some signs of wear to the items, to the original boxes or original package when available. See pictures for detail. All of my items come from a smoke-free environment. I do combine shipping on multiple items. Please ask any questions you have before buying.
Lastly, please note that we really appreciate your feedback. If you experience any problems with your purchase, please contact us BEFORE leaving feedback and we will do our best to work with you. Thank you.
